As A Man Thinketh
James Allen
I think the book is reasonably living up to its name: the wisdom of James Allen. Though As A Man Thinketh’s “wisdom” no longer sounds like gorgeous magic for it has been mostly deciphered by solid science, what seems as common knowledge now remains significantly valuable if written from a philosophical perspective. This old text presents old wisdom in an esthetic way. If you expect something sophisticated and science-like guide, this book is not for you. It is a philosophy book.
Some good quotes:
“Seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened.”
“As a plant grows from a seed, so every act grows from a seed of thought.”
“The outer condition of your life is always a reflection of your inner state.”
“Your wishes and dreams will only come true when they are in harmony with your thoughts and actions.”
